On Friday, June 27th, CFR hosted our first ever Family Court 101: An Informal Training Session on How the Family Court Works.
Deputy Director Michele Cortese provided a lesson on how a child welfare case proceeds through the family court system and about CFR’s direct work with families at risk of separation.
Attendees also heard from CFR attorneys, social workers, and a Parent Advocate who has experienced the system firsthand. In attendance were longtime partners and new friends to CFR, including foundation
program officers, social workers from partner agencies, and government agency staff members, who shared their own experiences working in the child welfare system.
One attendee said of the training session, “A+! As good a presentation as I have seen.”
